Interview as a Fresher in the Financial Industry

Having a strong professional certification in my pocket really helped me score good on the written tests in the financial industry. These were based on bookish knowledge so I was called for an interview. I was not able to score good on the interview since I had no practical exposure to financial industry and all I knew was the bookish stuff I was taught during my studies.

They asked me practical questions about the economy, about different sectors in the economy, about the equity market and its functions, about prospects of different industries and all I could reply was a monotonous “Sorry” to each of the questions. But my question is, “How do they expect me to know this all when they know I am appearing for the first job in this industry?”
